Tom jumped into full, adrenaline-filled rescue mode: he and the officers went down to River Street where they could see what was going on. “When the first plane had hit the first tower, we actually could hear a loud boom, but it sounded more like a truck backfiring or a plank being dropped, rather than what it actually was.” But soon they were to find out, as one of the Hoboken police officers came in and shared the news that a plane had crashed into one of the Twin Towers. But during the meeting, everything changed.
